Aftercare Guide

Follow these guidelines carefully to protect your skin and maximise your results.

TimeframeAftercare Guidance
Before your appointment
  • Let the hair grow to about a quarter of an inch (6mm) so it can be treated effectively. Shaving or trimming between sessions is fine.
  • Do not pluck, tweeze, wax, thread or use depilatory creams on the area being treated.
  • Stop topical retinoids and strong actives at least 6 weeks before your patch test and throughout your course. This includes retinol, retinal (retinaldehyde), retinyl esters (palmitate/propionate), tretinoin (Retin-A), adapalene, tazarotene, EpiDuo, benzoyl peroxide, hydrocortisone and strong chemical exfoliants (AHA/BHA/PHA). Stop bleaching creams at least 4 weeks before. Oral retinoids such as isotretinoin (Roaccutane) require a minimum of 6 months after your final dose.
  • Drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol, in the 24 hours before your appointment.
  • Arrive with the area clean and free of makeup, lotions and deodorant. Use SPF 50 daily on sun-exposed areas beforehand.
Immediately after
  • A soothing hypochlorous acid spray and aloe vera gel are applied before you leave. Some redness and minor swelling is normal and usually settles within a few hours.
  • Do not touch the area with unwashed hands, and use only the products we recommend.
  • For swelling, a cold pack wrapped in a clean cloth (never applied directly to the skin) may be held to the area for a few minutes.
First 48 hours
  • No makeup over the treated area. No perfumed, alcohol-based or oily products. If underarms were treated, no deodorant.
  • No exercise, gym or anything that makes you sweat; no steam rooms, saunas, hot tubs or swimming (especially chlorinated or chemically treated water); and no hot water on the area – keep washing, bathing and showering cool or lukewarm.
  • Cleanse gently with a fragrance-free wash only if needed, then apply hypochlorous acid spray and pure aloe vera gel to soothe.
  • Drink plenty of water.
48 hours to recovery
  • Makeup may be reintroduced after 48 hours (mineral formulas first).
  • Continue hypochlorous acid spray and pure aloe vera gel twice daily for up to 21 days.
  • Avoid direct sun; apply SPF 50 (light emulsion, fragrance-free, non-tinted) when outdoors.
  • Avoid tight or synthetic clothing over treated body areas. No hair removal between sessions except shaving or trimming.
Scabbing & healing
  • Light scabbing is a normal part of healing and can take 7 to 21 days to resolve.
  • Never pick, scratch or force a scab, this can cause permanent scarring. Let them fall away naturally.
  • Keep avoiding sun, saunas and steam until the skin has fully healed.
Exfoliation (whole course)
  • No exfoliation of any kind during your course, chemical or physical.
  • Light exfoliation may only resume from 2 weeks after a treatment, and only if the skin is fully healed and free of scabs, and must then stop again at least 2 weeks before your next appointment.
  • If these conditions cannot be met, avoid exfoliation for the whole course.
Ongoing, between sessions
  • Do not pluck, tweeze or wax, this disturbs the follicle and will affect your results. Shaving or trimming is fine.
  • Drink plenty of water throughout your course, especially in the 24 hours before and after each appointment.
  • Avoid alcohol in the 24 hours before each appointment.
